Privacy Policy

Effective April 28, 2026

VerifiedCourts ("the App," "we") is built by Ryan Eckert. This Privacy Policy describes what limited information the App handles and how.

Information We Do NOT Collect

VerifiedCourts does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information. There is no account creation, no sign-in, and no analytics or third-party tracking SDKs.

Location Data

The App requests permission to access your device's location only while the App is open, solely to:

• Center the map on your current position
• Calculate distance and driving time to nearby courts
• Search for courts near you

Your location is never transmitted to any server we control. It stays on your device.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your iPhone only:

• The court catalog you've discovered
• Courts you've saved as favorites
• Visit log entries you've created
• App preferences (sort order, filters, etc.)

This data is never uploaded. Deleting the App removes all of it.

Third-Party Services

The App calls these external services to provide its core features:

• OpenStreetMap (Overpass API) — to fetch public tennis court locations. We send a bounding box (your viewport area) and receive court entries. No personal data is sent.
• Apple MapKit — for displaying the map and calculating routes. Apple's own privacy policy applies to MapKit.

No Data Sold or Shared

We do not sell, rent, share, trade, or otherwise transfer data — because we don't collect any.

User Rights

To delete all data the App holds about you: delete the App from your iPhone. That's it.

Changes

If we materially change this Privacy Policy, we will update the version of the in-app first-launch disclaimer so existing users see it again.

Terms of Service

Effective April 28, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using VerifiedCourts ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

VerifiedCourts is a tennis court finder. The court catalog is sourced from OpenStreetMap (a community-edited public database) and supplemented with AI-based satellite verification to identify public versus private courts.

3. Limitation of Liability — IMPORTANT

The App is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Specifically:

• Court ownership labels (public/private/membership) are best-effort estimates based on third-party data and AI inference. They are not guaranteed to be accurate.
• You are solely responsible for verifying court access before visiting. If a court labeled "public" turns out to be private property, you accept all risk and liability — including any consequences of trespass.
• Ryan Eckert (the developer) is not liable for any damages, claims, fines, or losses arising from inaccurate court data, missing courts, incorrect routing, or any other use of the App.
• The maximum aggregate liability of the developer to you is $0 USD.

Per Section 230 of the U.S. Communications Decency Act, we are not the publisher of OpenStreetMap data and are not liable for content sourced from it.

4. User Responsibilities

By using the App, you agree to:

• Verify court access before visiting any court shown in the App.
• Not trespass on private property. If you arrive at a court that turns out to be private, leave when asked.
• Respect property owners and other players.
• Use the in-app reporting feature to flag mislabeled courts so future users benefit.

5. Modifications

We may update these Terms or the App at any time. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

6. Termination

We may discontinue the App or restrict access at any time, for any reason, without notice.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
